- Dilution: The CBD extract is then diluted with a carrier oil, like hemp seed oil or medium-chain triglyceride (MCT) oil, to create a tincture that can be easily consumed or applied topically. We prefer using hemp seed oil for our CBD oil, as we have found that it makes digestion go a lot smoother.
Carrier oils are vegetable-based oils that are used to dilute the concentrated CBD extract, making it easier to consume or apply. CBD oil is typically very potent, so it needs to be mixed with a carrier oil to achieve a safe and effective dose. They are called “carrier” oils because they are used to “carry” or deliver the essential oil to the body in a diluted form, which makes them safer to use.
There is a difference between full-spectrum and broad-spectrum CBD. Full-spectrum CBD has all the natural compounds found in the cannabis plant, including THC. Broad-spectrum CBD also has many of these natural compounds, but without THC.
